In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isa 6:1-3
It has been said that “outside of heaven, there are many needs”. I believe this to be truth. Everywhere you look, there are people with great needs. Of course we all think we have “needs” right? When in reality they are only “wants”. I mean, we say “I need a new car” or “I need to get that new iPhone”. Some may even say “I need chocolate”. When you stop and consider a 24 hour period, you could start racking up the number of “needs” quickly. Sometimes we can get consumed by our wants and desires. If we are not careful, our needs can rule our minds and every part of our lives. Our needs can cause us to pour ourselves into our career and forsake things that are most important. What if you began to replace the word “NEED” in your vocabulary with the word “WANT”? And only used the word NEED for one thing and one thing only (we will get to this later). Think about this for a moment. What if every time you thought you needed something you said “I want…such and such” instead of “I need…”
I want chocolate
I want coffee
I want a new car
I want a new computer
Whatever it is you’ve been needing insert the word “want” instead. “Want” is certainly less meaningful than “need”. The word “want” does not spark the same emotion inside your heart that “need” does. Now, I know that many could argue that there are REAL NEEDS. Like if you were sick or experiencing pain in your body, or if your loved one was sick, you might say “these are needs”. One might say “I need a healing” or “my son needs to get well”. But what if, just hypothetically, what if you NEVER used the word “NEED” for anything, ever. What if you reserved the word NEED for only one thing and one thing only? What if you could get your life so simple, so focused on just one thing that EVERYTHING else became just a want?
As I mentioned before, it has been said that outside of heaven there are many needs. If this statement is true then lets take a look inside heaven and see if there are any needs. You do not have to go far into a Bible study to see that there is only ONE NEED in heaven, the NEED to DECLARE HIM HOLY. Isaiah 6:1-5 we see our first glimpse of heaven and there we see a description of the throne room. We see God sitting upon the throne. We see the train of His robe and the Glory cloud filling the Temple. We also see living creatures in Gods presence and they have 3 sets of wings, faces and feet but they only have one NEED; the need to declare Gods Holiness. They are not asking God for more things, they are not hoping for an upgrade on their wings, they do not cry out with wants or desires. The angels have one purpose, one passion, one NEED….
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
This was not just a chorus and a bridge to a song that would end either, as we look into the book of Revelation, we see that 3000 years later when John was given a peak into the throne room of God, these little seraphim’s were still at it…
Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come.”
What this tells me is that when we get into His presence, every “need” that we ever had or even thought we had, will fade into nothingness and we will be over come by one need and one need only….”HOLY, HOLY, HOLY”. I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait until all I have is one need and that is to declare His Holiness.
“I want a new car, but I NEED to say Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty”
“I want to eat food and drink water to live, but I NEED to say Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty”
“I want a healing, but I NEED to say Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty”
“I want this pain to stop, but I NEED to say Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty”
“I want my daughter to be healed, but I NEED to say Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty”
So if our “needs” tend to rule our lives, consume our minds and govern our destiny….What if you lived your life with only one need and one need only?
Because if you live your life outside of heaven like you were already in heaven….you will ultimately end up in heaven.
